San Clemente Coastal Trail

This 2.3 mile trail showcases the best of SC’s coastline. San Clemente Coastal Trail is a flat and easy trail that starts at North Beach train station and follows the railroad tracks all the way down to Trestles Beach. The trail is suitable for all skill levels and is open year-round. Dog’s are not allowed on the beach but you’re more than welcome to bring your furry friend onto the trail. 

Directions: To reach the San Clemente Coastal Trail entrance, head to NB Train station 1850 Avenida Estacion, San Clemente CA 92672.

Cristianitos Regional Trail

Cristianitos Regional Trail has a 7 mile north hike and 2.8 mile south hike. If you’re looking for a wilderness hike that is moderately difficult, you have to check out this trail loop located within the San Mateo Canyon Wilderness. The trail offers panoramic views of the ocean, rolling hills, and beautiful wildflowers during the spring season. The trail is open year-round and is popular among hikers, runners, and mountain bikers.

Directions: To access the trailhead, head to Cristianitos Road and El Camino Real, San Clemente, CA 92672.

Forester Ranch Ridgeline Trail

The Forster Ranch Ridgeline Trail is a 3.2-mile-long, out-and-back trail that offers a moderate hiking experience. This ridge-top trail is dog-friendly, just make sure to keep your pup on a leash. This ridgeline provides spectacular views of the ocean, San Clemente, and the surrounding hills. It is ideal for hiking, running, and birdwatching.

Sea Summit At Marblehead Trail 

Sea Summit at Marblehead Trail is a 4-mile trail that has a few different paths for beginners and avid hikers. This new hiking trail is definitely a showstopper with its vast views of the ocean and a great staircase for anyone looking to add a few extra steps into a workout. There is not much shade so make sure to pack a hat and enough water for this one!

Directions:  Exit I-5 at Avenida Vista Hermosa and head west; turn right at the signal "School/Park Access.” Public parking is available in the Jim Johnson Memorial Sports Park.
